Sci-Fi Slacker's has an excellent essay on Forrest J. Ackerman. Forry is to many Mr. Sci-Fi.

Okay, I have to admit it, I miss my collection of Famous Monsters of Filmland, which Forry published, and I grew up on. It's that magazine that really got me interested in fandom and led me to my first convention many years ago, and eventually meeting Forry himself (on several occasions over the years). Lot's of pics of his collection, which, according to the article, Forry was forced to sell due to a legal battle.
