Hazelton, Pennsylvania, gets it right. The city has just enacted the toughest anti-illegal alien law in the nation. The law stipulates $1000 fines for landlords who rent property to illegal aliens, and bushiness who hire illegal aliens ill not be granted licenses. Harsh on the business community. Based n the news report, it does not seem to penalize illegal aliens, like turning them over to the INS.

Barletta proposed the Illegal Immigration Relief Act last month as a response to what he said were Hazleton's problems with violent crime, crowded schools, hospital costs and the demand for services. Opponents argued it was divisive and possibly illegal, but supporters argued illegal immigrants' growing numbers have damaged the quality of life in this northeastern Pennsylvania city.

"What you see here tonight, really, is a city that wants to take back what America has given it," Barletta said.

This is a welcome contrast to cities like San Francisco that have enacted sanctuary laws that protect illegal aliens.
