Global Warming: Loons Gone Wild 4

John Travolta claims he is concerned about global warming. From ThisIsLondon:

"It [global warming] is a very valid issue," Travolta declared. "I'm wondering if we need to think about other planets and dome cities.

"Everyone can do their bit. But I don't know if it's not too late already. We have to think about alternative methods of fuel.

"I'm probably not the best candidate to ask about global warming because I fly jets.

"I use them as a business tool though, as others do. I think it's part of this industry - otherwise I couldn't be here doing this and I wouldn't be here now."

Travolta is proving himself to be yet another "do as I say, not as I do" liberal.

The article details out the five jets Travolta owns (maintained on his own private runway), and estimates that his flying habits have resulted in 800 tons of carbon emissions. How much carbon does the average American dump into the atmosphere? Whatever the number is, I seriously doubt that it is measured in hundreds of tons.

He claims that it is due to the business he is n, but one has to question even that. He could easily fly first class for any and all of those business trips. Uses his jets as a "business tool…as others do?" He talks as though everyone has their own private jet, just as though it were an car.

Actually I like that. Time to update the old adage "A chicken in every pot, a car in every garage" to "a jet in every garage." I’ll take a Gulfstream G200.

At least he admits to not being the best candidate to talk about environmental issues.
