Senate Message To Terrorists: We Surrender

Yesterday, The U.S. Senate joined the House of Representatives in setting a date for surrendering Iraq to terrorists and death squads. As President Bush has made it clear that this bill, which also loaded with pork barrel spending, will be vetoed. Fortunately for the people of Iraq, the leftist Democrats in Congress do not have the votes to over-ride the veto.

The only reason I can see that such a bill would be put forth by the Leftists is as a show, attempting to convince the anti-peace zealots that are pushing for an immediate withdrawal from Iraq in order to end the "occupation" (yet not from Germany, Japan, and other countries we "occupy"). Now they can claim they tried, and it's all Bush's fault for his "go it alone, cowboy" attitude.

From myway news:

Three months after Democrats took power in Congress, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid said the moment was at hand to "send a message to President Bush that the time has come to find a new way forward in this intractable war."

And that message is, "we surrender," just like the Democrats did to South Vietnam nearly 35 years ago.

John McCain, R-Ariz., a presidential hopeful, said that "we are starting to turn things around" in the Iraq war" and that a timeline for withdrawal would embolden the terrorists in Iraq and elsewhere.

The effect of the timeline would be to "snatch defeat from the jaws of progress in Iraq," agreed Lieberman, who won a new term last fall in a three-way race after losing the Democratic nomination to an anti-war insurgent.

I don't often agree with McCain or Lieberman, however where the liberation of Iraq and the War on Terror are concerned, I do. And this is one of those times. Since the Party of Defeat has taken the majority n Congress, it became only a matter of time before they would call for a Vietnam style surrender to totalitarian thugs.

Can it be that the Defeatocrats are so shortsighted in their hatred for Bush and Republicans in general that they will stop at nothing to push for failure in Iraq? Do they have no compassion for the people of Iraq who are grasping at the straws of Liberty after decades of oppression? Are they so stupid that they don't see that pulling out of Iraq prematurely will, when we are gone, Iraq will erupt in civil war and end up as a puppet state of the Ayatollahs that run Iran?

Apparently they will stop at nothing, don't care about freedom, and are willing to sacrifice millions of Iraqis to show political clout.

God forbid we get a Defeatocrat in the White House in the next election.
