Global Warming: Loons Gone Wild #14

Does anybody know what mayor Bloomberg is smoking these days, and is Al gore his source? Bloomberg, in an address at the United Nations, now considers “global warming” to be a greater threat than terrorism.

From the NYSun:

Mr. Bloomberg renewed his call, made first late last year, for taxing countries such as America that emit large amounts of carbons, which are believed to cause changes in the planet’s climate. “So long as there’s no penalty or cost involved in producing greenhouse gases, there will be no incentive” to meet targets set by international institutions, the mayor told the General Assembly. “For that reason, I believe the U.S. should enact a tax on carbon emissions.

“Terrorists kill people. Weapons of mass destruction have the potential to kill an enormous amount of people,” Mr. Bloomberg told reporters after addressing the U.N. General Assembly, but “global warming in the long term has the potential to kill everybody.”

Bloomberg wants to significantly raise the cost of energy by putting carbon taxes on power plants because a group of socialists claim carbon is bad for the Earth contrary to what hundreds of scientists said that the current warming trend is A) predominantly caused by changes in solar activity; B) the impact of man on the atmosphere is so insignificant that it can’t be measured; C) carbon dioxide production is a result of the increase in temperature, not the cause of warming.

And to say that it is as destructive as nuclear weapons (or other WMDs) and as evil as terrorism is utter nonsense. Bloomberg must be smoking some of Obama’s weed.

Like smoking, Mr. Bloomberg said, these are preventable killers. “We should go after terrorists every place in this world, find them and kill them, plain and simple,” he said. If weapons of mass destruction “get out of the hands of the countries that have them and get into the hands of terrorists, the potential is just mind-boggling,” he added. And while global warming “is a much longer-term thing,” he said, it “has all of the same potentials of destroying the planet that we live on. No scientist knows for sure what’s going to happen, but you don’t want to wait to find out.”

Preventable killers? The way to deal with terrorists is to, as Bloomberg points out, kill them first. Global Warming, on the other hand, is not something that is preventable as it is part of a dynamic and natural system as pointed out by scientists like Patrick Mikes, Fred Singer, John Christi and hundreds of others.

Has Bloomberg read a book on the science behind global warming written by a real scientist? I seriously doubt, for if he had read a book like Unstoppable Global Warming, he wouldn’t be moonbatting about the current warming trend to a pack of socialists that hate America.

Meanwhile, The Wisconsin State Journal is reporting:

Today’s predicted snowfall won ‘t simply be the 41st day of measurable snow accumulation this winter.

If, as the National Weather Service is forecasting, another 3 to 5 inches of snow falls on southern Wisconsin by the time the storm blows through Tuesday morning, it will put the winter of 2007-08 into the record books as Madison ’s snowiest.

I guess “global warming” is the cause of all the snow we’ve been getting this year.
