China Provides Intelligence On Iran’s Nuclear Weapons Program

A Chinese decision to provide information for use in the agency’s attempts to probe Iran’s purported nuclear weapons program would appear to reflect growing international unease about how honest the Islamic republic has been in denying it ever tried to make such arms.
Intelligence that China has released includes details such as Iran’s work on re-entry vehicles for warheads, the acquisition of dual-purpose equipment, and a document that details out how to shape a uranium warhead.
Why China is now releasing this information when in the past, China, along with Russia, has served as a foil to U.S. (and Western) efforts to rein in Iran’s nuclear ambitions. some claim it is do to growing international concerns of what a terrorist regime will do with nuclear weapons. Of course it could e a means to shift focus away from China’s crackdown on dissidents in Tibet and the upcoming Olympics.
