Two Iranian-backed Terrorist Leaders Surrender In Iraq
June 6th, 2008 | by Sqotty |Much to the consternation of the MoveOn crowd and the Democratic Party, U.S. Forces (and the Bush Administration) scored another victory in Iraq: the surrender of two terrorist leaders. From FoxNews:
Two suspected Shiite militia leaders surrendered Friday during American raids on their homes south of Baghdad, the U.S. military said.
One of the men is suspected of ordering attacks on U.S. troops, directing the kidnapping of Iraqis and smuggling Iranian weapons and Katyusha rockets into Iraq, according to a statement from the military. The other suspect tried to flee by wading through an irrigation canal, before surrendering.
The U.S. said the men were members of Iranian-backed “special groups” - language the American military uses to describe Shiite fighters defying a cease-fire order by anti-American cleric Muqtada al-Sadr.
That last paragraph is critical; these guys were being backed by Iran. For those who think meeting with the leadership of Iran without preconditions (Barack Obama), you need to think twice about your position. Iran has, technically and legally speaking, been at war with the United States since the Iran Hostage Crisis back in the ’70s. The invasion of a U.S. Embassy is an Act of War. Jimmy Carter failed to act on that aggression when he was president, and now we have Iran supporting terrorists in Iraq and killing more Americans.
There is also the tidbit about the “cease-fire order” from anti-American terrorist leader Muqtada al-Sadr. One of our great mistakes in Iraq was playing “nice” with this thug.
The surrender of these two particular thugs is a good thing and continues to prove that the Petreus surge is working, despite claims by the anti-American Left to the contrary.
