Obama Attempts to Deny 1st Amendment Rights to AIP
August 26th, 2008 | by Sqotty |One of the responsibilities (and obligations) of the president, as well as members of Congress, is to defend and uphold the U.S. Constitution, all the time, every time; not just when it is convenient to them. Senator Obama has (once again) shown his true colors by attempting to deny certain groups and broadcasters from exercising their Constitutional Right of Free Speech.
From Breitbart:
Barack Obama is striking back fiercely and swiftly to stamp out an ad that links him to a 1960s radical, eager to demonstrate a far more aggressive response to attacks than John Kerry did when faced with the 2004 “Swift Boat” campaign.
Obama not only aired a response ad to the spot linking him to William Ayers, but he sought to block stations the commercial by warning station managers and asking the Justice Department to intervene. The campaign also planned to compel advertisers to pressure stations that continue to air the anti-Obama commercial.
The ad that the Obama campaign does not want you to see is from the American Issues Project, and links Barack Obama to the terrorist Weather Underground member Bill Ayers. Here’s the ad:
Some facts: Bill Ayers was a member of the
Weather Underground;
Ayers and Obama both served on the
Woods Fund of Chicago in 2001; Ayers has stated that “he did not do enough” and has no regrets over his terrorist activities; Obama has stated on his campaign website that Ayers is “mainstreem”; Obama launched his first political campaign in the home of Ayers and Weather Underground terrorist
Bernardine Dorn. These are facts, and Obama is attempting to silence them in a clearly unconstitutional fashion.
Obama spokesman Tommy Vietor said Obama supporters have inundated stations that are airing the ad, many of them owned by Sinclair Communications, with 93,000 e-mails. He called the ad false, despicable and outrageous.
“Other stations that follow Sinclair’s lead should expect a similar response from people who don’t want the political discourse cheapened with these false, negative attacks,” Vietor said.
Can Vietor or any body else on the Dances With Terrorists Campaign identify any elements in the ad that are false? The facts are true, and to flasely claim they are not is deceitful and dishonest. But that’s the hard-Left for you. They hate free speech when it is Conservatives who are exercising it.
This is not the kind of change we want.
