Latest On Palin Email Hack

September 19th, 2008 | by Sqotty |

There is a lot going on right now in the investigation of the hacking of Sarah Palin’s Yahoo! account. Michelle Malin has the latest scoops on her site as the son of a State Representative in Tennesse, Mike Kernell (Democrat), has been contacted by the FBI in relation to this cyber-crime. Also being reported by Malkin is that a techie managed to track down the Yahoo! account of the perp, or someone believed to be the perp. This is, afterall, the U.S. of A., and a scumbag is presumed innocent until proven guilty.

It is interesting to note that the guy asserting to be the perp was disappointed as he was unable to find any juicy tidbits that might swing the election in favor of Dances With Terrorists. And the report does sound like it is accurate.

Meanwhile, over at ctunnel, an Internet proxy service, has not only retained the logs (they keep a week’s worth of logs), but is also cooperating with investigators by analyzing those logs to find the perp. Hope they find the scumbag.

The fact that the FBI is talking to Kernell’s son is surprising. We just have to see how this story shapes up.

Also of interest is that the AP writer who reported on the story has proclaimed the crime to be the fault of the victim. Maybe it is time to update their moniker to Associated with scumbags Press.

Democratic Representative Mike Kernell’s son, David Kernell, was caught by authorities. Apparently he had reset the password and gained access to the GOP VP candidate Palin’s personal Email account, according to CNN. He had taken a screenshot of her entire email directory which includes E-mail addresses, pictures, birthdates and phone numbers of family members, and more. After turning himself in, he pleaded not guilty despite the fact that he took the information he hacked and posted it to a public Web site. To make matters worse, he also posted the new password he’d created, which allowed others to easily access Palin’s E-mail themselves. David Kernell may be subject to the heat of a five-year prison term, $250,000 fine and three years of supervised release as a consequence. At the maximum of $1,500 per loan, that bail would require about 167 individual payday loans to free him from being condemned with other cellmates.
