Obama Political Failure #27

I can hear him now, sitting in the Oval Office, whispering to himself, “Oh Constitution, how I violate thee, let me count the ways…” When Obama was sworn into office, that included an oath to uphold the Constitution and our laws, all of them, not just the ones he thinks should be enforced, and ignoring the others, as he has decided to do.

Obama announced this week that he was instructing Federal Law Enforcement agencies to not enforce Federal marijuana laws, at least in respects where State laws allow for the use of “medical” marijuana. Whether or not marijuana should be legalized, whether for personal use or “medical” reasons can be debated. But the enforcement of Federal law is a requirement of the Executive Branch. I predicted a year ago that Obama’s drug policy would be “you must share.” I am only surprised that it took this long for him to implement it.

This is not the only example of Obama’s constitutional violations.

He recently accepted the Nobel Peace Prize without Congressional authorization, a violation of Article 1, Section 9:

No Title of Nobility shall be granted by the United States; and no Person holding any Office of Profit or Trust under them, shall, without the Consent of the Congress, accept of any present, Emolument, Office, or Title, of any kind whatever, from any King, Prince, or foreign State.

The Peace Prize is awarded by a legislative (government) committee in Norway; a foreign state. Attached to it is a $1.4 million cash award, which Obama intends to give to charity, regardless of the fact, that even should Congress approve his receiving the award (and Congress probably should), that money belongs to the Federal Government, and not personally to Obama. But, as Obama proved with the takeover of GM and many banks, Obama doesn’t care what the Constitution says, or what the laws of the land are.

Obama is a doper. This we know as well by his own words. Don’t enforce Federal drug laws where state law allows “medicinal” use of marijuana.

“Hey, Doc, I’m suffering severe anxiety.”

“Here’s a prescription for some grass. Smoke your brains out, and you won’t be feeling so anxious.”

Yep, Obama is paving the path to legalizing the happy weed. What other laws will Obama order Federal Law Enforcement to stand down on? Oh, yeah, immigration laws. I guess that will be next up on his list of laws to selectively not enforce. After all, why deport all of those illegal aliens who come here to make a living and violate our laws, including identity theft; and let’s make it easier for the drug lords south of the border to get their product into the United States. Gotta wonder, how does the Secret Service determine whose turn it is to act as the president’s mule.

The Left complained about Bush’s alleged violation of the Constitution by having our intelligence agencies listen in on international calls when known terrorists were involved, but not a peep out of them about Obama’s many, and very real, violations of the Constitution. And not just his failure to enforce federal drug laws.
