Greatest Writer Since Caesar?
October 29th, 2009 | by Sqotty |From the realm of the unbelievable, Obama is now being proclaimed to be the greatest writer since Julius Caesar. This, of course, is according to Rocco Landesman, chaiman of the National Endowment of Propaganda, I mean, Arts, an Obama appointee. Is he nuts? Probably. Nuts about Obama, anyway.
The president first. This is the first president that actually writes his own books since Teddy Roosevelt and arguably the first to write them really well since Lincoln. If you accept the premise, and I do, that the United States is the most powerful country in the world, then Barack Obama is the most powerful writer since Julius Caesar.
Landesman’s reasoning? Well, Obama is the first president, according to Landesman, to write his own books since Teddy Roosevelt; America is the most powerful country in the world. Caesar wrote his own books (they didn’t have ghost writers back then, did they?); the Roman Empire, 2,000 years ago, was the most powerful country on Earth. People have been reading the works of Julius Caesar for thousands of years. Obama’s books have only been around only a few years and have not been read by nearly as many people. Caesar’s books are used in academic study; Obama’s books as a reason for legalizing marijuana.
Other similarities between Caesar and Obama abound.
When Caesar first took power, he sought to reform the Roman Empire by centralizing the government; Obama has taken over private companies and is attempting to take control of the health care industry. Caesar was proclaimed “dictator perpetuo”, and proclaimed a Roman God; no doubt that Obama would very much like the same consideration. After all, some people already believe that Obama is the Second Coming of Christ.
One has to wonder, though, has Landesman actually read Obama’s or Caesar’s books? He mentions Lincoln and Teddy Roosevelt as presidents who wrote their own books, but has he read them, either? (Note: African Game Trails is a darn good read.) My guess is, probably not. He is too busy promoting The One and turning the NEA into Obama’s personal propaganda machine.
One thing is certain: 2,000 years from now people will still be reading the books of Julius Caesar, but will anybody be able to find the books written by the Junkie from Hawaii?
