Obama Political Failure #29

November 17th, 2009 | by Sqotty |

Obama has yet another Political Failure to contend with. Until Obama, no President of the United States has bowed to a foreign leader, or to anyone. Obama took heat earlier this year for bowing to the King of Saudi Arabia, which his flacks tried to pass of as something about his being taller than the Saudi King and was not really a bow, but just trying to shake hands due to the height difference. A lot of people, including myself said, “yeah, right!”

Now, Barack Obama has bowed to the Emperor of Japan and his wife. He bowed deeply to the emperor, who did not return the bow, and bowed several times, less deeply, to Imperial couple. There is no doubt that these were bows.

Obama Bowing

Here’s the video:

Culturally, this is significant, for bowing to a ruler is a sign of submission, acknowledging that the person being bowed to is your superior. Knights, Counts, and Dukes bowed before their Kings, showing their submission to their liege-lord. Kings did not bow to anyone, save their Emperor, if they recognized one, or (maybe) the Pope, if they were Catholic. The same is true of modern day kings and emperors. They do not bow to foreign leaders; however, when Obama bows to these kings and emperors, he is making quite a statement about said king or emperor and the Presidency, that the U.S. is now subservient to these foreign rulers.

Obama continues to prove that he is unfit to lead this nation, whether it is in dealing with terrorists, winning the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, running the economy, or meeting world leaders.
