Obama Like Spock?

December 3rd, 2009 | by Sqotty |

I’ve been unaware of the comparisons between Mr. Spock of Star Trek and Barack Obama until this week. Obama is like Spock? Go figure! Obama is a science geek? On what basis do they come to that conclusion?

Okay, disclaimer time. I’ve never liked Spock. He has always been my least favorite character in the original series. I cheered when he died in The Wrath of Khan and was disappointed when they brought him back in ST3: In Search of Spock (which is what I call it, parodying Nimoy’s PBS series “In Search of…”). This is not to say that Spock isn’t an interesting character, or that Nimoy isn’t a talented actor (Nimoy is also a fine director). I didn’t like Spock because he was a bloody know-it-all.

So why the comparison? Aside from Nimoy being a far-Left Liberal Democrat who contributed to Al Franken’s campaign in Minnesota (and Nimoy doesn’t live in Minnesota), how is Obama like Spock?

From FoxNews:

He shows a fascination with science, an all-too deliberate decision-making demeanor, an adherence to logic and some pretty, ahem, prominent ears.

Well, one out of four ain’t bad, right? But let’s break this done.

“Fascination with science” Does anyone have a list of science books that Obama has read in the last year? How about the last 10 years? Can he evaluate differential equations? Does he understand Special Relativity or does he believe that E=mc2 means Energy equals milk and two cookies (preferably chocolate chip).

“Deliberate decision-making demeanor” I guess means taking six months to decide what to do in Afghanistan, or choosing to prosecute terrorists captured in foreign lands in civilian courts (where the cases will be dismissed for not following legal procedures in regards to Miranda rights and due-process) rather than in military tribunals, which is the historically correct setting.

“Adherence to logic”, well there isn’t anything logical about trying to tax-and-spend your way out of a recession, or bailing out banks and the auto industry. There also isn’t anything logical about quadrupling the budget deficit then blaming your predecessor. Unless you’re a loony-leftie Moonbat.

It is not surprising that Nimoy, contributor to the campaigns of the far-Left, would find the comparison of Spock and Obama to be a compliment, regardless of how far-fetched the comparison actually is.

While it’s the slow decision making that has conservatives upset, especially when it comes to national security, it’s the science content of the presidential agenda that have the geeks insisting he’s gone where no nerd has gone before.

Obama was a lawyer, organizer and author before he turned politician. So his interest in science wasn’t as obvious until he reached the White House. Now, privately he’s known to relish the ability to call smart people, especially scientists, to come to the White House to talk about their fields. The more obscure and complicated the field, the better to feed the inner science geek.

Science content? Must be talking about the fraud of anthropogenic global warming that the Obama Administration, the U.N, and Al Gore still insist is valid, despite the fact that the so-called global warming scientists have been caught cooking the numbers in order to get the desired results, destroying the original data used to develop their cooked data, then plotting to black-ball those who oppose their agenda from the peer review process and publishing conflicting papers in peer-reviewed journals.

In Obama’s favor, he is able to call on people smarter than he is to advise him, after all, he is the President. But I had no idea that Al Gore was not only smarter than Obama (Aren’t they both politicians and lawyers?), but is also a scientist. Oh wait, Gore invented the Internet. And helped define the argument in support of global warming hysteria in order to make millions of dollars.

Pushing math and science also does not a science geek, make.

No, Obama is not a science geek, or a science buff, and the only ways in which he is like commander Spock of Star Trek is that he lacks emotions in his (non-)decision making processes, is a major league know-it-all (and is wrong on it all), and is a hard-Left Liberal (unlike Captain Kirk). He also has big ears, just like Spock.
