John Murtha, Dead at 77
February 10th, 2010 | by Sqotty |When I read this morning that Congressman John Murtha had died, my reaction was an audible “Holy sh!t!”. Seriously, not in a good way, but with surprise and sorrow. Although I have been a critic of Murtha in regards to the Iraq War and issues regarding his castigating our troops in a negative light (accusing them of crimes that they did not commit or even take place), Murtha also had many good accomplishments and should be remembered for those. This is yet another time for mourning, too soon after the loss of Ted Kennedy.
Murtha was 77 when he died as a result of complications to gallbladder surgery. He was the first Vietnam veteran elected to Congress.
My thoughts and prayers go out to Congressman Murtha’s family at this time of sorrow.
