Michelle Malkin website down

I am not sure what happened, but when I went out to Michelle Malkin's blog to read an article about the infiltration of the Republican debate by Hillary campaign operatives, all I got is this page:

michellemalkinwebsite.jpg

Hopefully this is just a hiccup on their service providers part, and not the result of nefarious activities. I sent a note to their "webmaster" email bucket, so hopefully they will be alerted to the problem soon and get things up and running.

UPDATE: Looks like they are back online now. Must have been a hiccup on their service providers part

Thanksgiving 2007

I have a great deal to give thanks for this year. It has been a good year blessed with the joy of watching my daughter grow another year and begin to talk. Family is foremost in my thanks for they bring so much thrill to life.

There are the men and women in the Armed Forces, many of whom are in a far off land, and are unable to be with their loved ones while they serve under very trying and hostile conditions. Their courage, sacrifice, and perseverance for love of country and their fellow man is also something I give thanks for, for without those willing to defend our liberty, we would all be enslaved.

Most of all, I thank the big guy up in the sky, the creator of all that there is and all that there will be, from the heavens above with its brightly shining sea of stars to the earth beneath my feet.

Happy Thanksgiving.

Returns

My wife and daughter came back from their extended trip to California (I had been back a week already) on Wednesday night after a grueling flight home. The flight, like so many of them, and all flights involved in this recent trip, suffered huge delays. It was past midnight before we got home.

With there return and other events on the agenda, this has really crimped my writing time down to nearly zip. I'd rather have them back and zero time to write than still be pining away for their safe return.

There's been a lot to write about. Unfortunately, close to zero time to do so.

Some quick notes:

Barbara Boxer, California's #1 Moonbat, is elated that Al "Carbon Bigfoot" Gore has received the Nobel Peace Prize for his propaganda work on Global Warming.

Northfield, Minnesota, continues to play host to a weekly pro-terrorist rally on Saturdays. What do you expect from a small city with two liberal Liberal Arts Colleges in town.

Bobby Jindal, Republican, wins the governorship of Louisiana, becoming the youngest governor at the age of 36. The son of Indian immigrants, this is someone who knows how to live the American Dream.

And this week I spotted two Bald Eagles and a Golden Eagle flying around my house. You can't see that in California!

Hit or Miss

It's going to be hit or miss for me the next few days as I have a number of commitments this next week that will be keeping me busier than a you-know-what.

Happy Birthday Anna Marie!

My daughter, Anna Marie, turns Two today!

She is without any doubt the greatest thing to happen in my world.

Happy Birthday, darling daughter Anna Marie!

Day at the Fair

I spent a two hour shift working the GOP booth at the Dakota County Fair yesterday. It was a hot day, with temperatures well into the 90s matched with high humidity. anybody who knows me knows that it isn't the base temperature that gets me, but the humidity (I grew up in Fresno where temps often soared around 110, but there was virtually no humidity). The exhibit hall we were in, not being very well ventilated must have been a lot hotter.

A lot of people who stopped by the booth made it clear that they were against a tax increase to pay for replacing the bridge that collapsed last week over the Mississippi River. The one exception to that was a DFLer who drifted by (their booth was in the next building).

The folks at the Independence Party that I spoke with were finding a similar reaction.

This is more of a reaction of those who are more politically involved than the mainstream.

I did have a number of good conversations with folks about other things, making the time go by fairly quickly.

Before taking over the booth, my wife, daughter and I spent the afternoon looking around at the various exhibits and livestock barns. Anna, not quite two yet, demonstrated her animal sounds for other fair goers. She is especially good at saying what the sheep says: Baaaaa! And loudly. she also said "hot" for the first time, in response to the pizza we had for dinner at the fair.

The Fair itself was not as well attended for a Saturday as in the past. This may be a function of the heat and humidity, and the threat of rain, which proved to be much more than a threat, as a storm was closing in at about 8:15 PM.

By that time, I had rejoined my wife, Sue, and our daughter, Anna, and we elected to high tail it out of there before the storm hit. The parking lot looked as though we weren't alone in that decision.

We had not gone far down the road when the storm hit with a vengeance. Heavy rain and high winds. We good see pieces of tree limbs, small stuff, being blown around the roads all of the way home. It made for ugly, and dangerous, driving conditions.

Surprisingly we saw a lot of deer, including fawns, running around in the weather. We would have thought that they would be under cover somewhere.

This morning, taking the dogs out for their walkies, I spotted a tree was blown down onto the road we live on. I would be very surprised if that is the only tree that was knocked down in last night's storm. Total rainfall from that storm was 1.25 inches. Not much rain considering the ferocity of that storm.

Been A Busy Week

I've been heavily wrapped up on two other projects, one is getting the Quadrant website up to snuff appearance wise and fixing a bug in the Mission Muster page, the other is I have received an appointment as the new commander of KAG's ECorps. You may not know what that is, which is okay. It's part of my Fandom activities, which is to say, hobby time.

The debates have been the interesting big news, along with William Jefferson FINALLY getting indicted for bribery, corruption, and other charges. Let's see how long it takes to get the rat out Congress.

For the GOP nomination, i have narrowed my field down: Ron Paul is a nutter and I wouldn't vote for him if he were the last man on Earth. I'm beginning to think he is the Dennis Kucinich of the GOP. Although I am not thrilled with Guiliani, I'll take him over Hillary any day of the week. I still like Romney, and Duncan Hunter.

In the kickoff, Duncan Hunter didn't have the name recognition of the top contenders, however that seems to be changing as he is getting more air time with various talk shows and getting his message out. I like him. Hopefully, if he doesn't make the top position, he should be at the top of any short list for VP.

Newt Gingrich is sounding like a no-show, as in not going to run, but you never know. Fred Thomsen is expected to announce in a few weeks. That will change some dynamics and shake out some of the bottom of the pack so we can focus on the tier 1 and tier 2 candidates. In otherwords, shake out Ron Paul.

Tonight is my monthly Townhall Meetup at the Park Tavern in Brooklyn Park, MN. 7 PM, and we're in the meeting room. My guess is we'll be talking about the Immigration Reform package and the current campaign. New faces are always welcome, so if you are in the area, drop on by.

Little Belly Dancer

We were at a going away party at the Cruise a couple of weeks ago, and one of our friends posted this video of our daughter up onyoutube. No idea how long it will be up, at least through the end of May.

There is no doubt that she is getting her dancing skills from me and her looks from her mother.

video uploads

I've been able to edit my video from Saturday's Tax Cut Rally at the capitol building. Unfortunately, I am running into a lot of problems getting them uploaded to youtube. No idea what the issue is, may be it's bandwidth issues for uploading, or somethin on their end. Hopefully, I'll get lucky and have them uploaded by the end of the year.

It's Cold Out!

It seems like just a week ao it was sunny and in the 70s here in Minnesota. And, in fact, it was in the 70s. This morning, when I took the girls out for their morning walkies, it was 16 degrees (without wind chill factored in), windy, and snowing. Talk about global warming!

Anyrate, my wife has also been getting after me to spend more quality time with her and our daughter. This is cutting into my time to write as much/often as I would like, especially on weekends. But then, they are more important. so, if my posting schedule seems to be a bit erratic at times, that's the reason.

On other fronts, I was re-elected to my township's board of supervisors. That means three more years!

I Admit IT: Remiss in Blogging Duties

With Thanksgiving, and now busily shopping for Christmas presents, not to mention my wife's upcoming birthday, things have been hectic around the homestead. So, what else is new? These are things we all have to do.

Thanksgiving weekend was good, even with the horsey round-up I had, as my neighbor's horses (I was watching them while they were away), got out of their pasture and I needed to round them up again. With help from other neighbors. It was not quite a "comedy of Errors," but pretty darn close. Lesson learned: when dealing with livestock, wear steel-toed boots.

And there was also a flurry obsession with genealogy research. More about that later.

During all this time, much has happened, like the six Imams who were booted off of a US Airways flight, which I tried to ignore initially. sine that time, there has been more information, such as their changing their seats at the last minute into a patern used by terrorists (two in first class, two on the exit rows, two in the back of the plane), requesting seatbelt extenders, then stuffing them under the seats, and that when the flight seating was called, they shouted "Allah" loudly, and were busily making anti-american remarks. Enough of that.

Congressman-elect Keith Ellison is in the news for proclaiming that he will take his oath on the Q'uran. Why this has been considered "big news" is beyond me. My biggest concerns with Ellison is his falunting the laws of the land, refusing to pay parking violations, etc., consorting with racits such as Farakhan of the Nation of Islam, and his involvement with CAIR, which is believed to have ties with terrorist organizations. The bit about swearing in on the Q'uran is a non-story. Quite frankly, if he is to take his oath on a Holy Book, I'd rather it not be the Bible.

Much to do, and catch up. More later.

Guinness, Of Course!

Every now and again I run across one of those blog survey's worth doing. Here's my results on the "What Kind of Beer am I" survey.

You Are Guinness
You know beer well, and you'll only drink the best beers in the world. Watered down beers disgust you, as do the people who drink them. When you drink, you tend to become a bit of a know it all - especially about subjects you don't know well. But your friends tolerate your drunken ways, because you introduce them to the best beers around.

No, I did not take the quiz more than once to get that result!

Why Am I Not Surprised

This goes in the category of “why am I not surprised?”

Last night I took my lovely wife and darling daughter to dinner at a favorite place in Eagan. On the drive up along Cedar Avenue, sue noticed a vehicle sporting a green “What Would Wellstone Do?” sticker, as well as the usual “Wellstone!” sticker. After she pointed it out, I noticed two things about the vehicle sporting said stickers. 1- it was a huge, gas-guzzling, SUV. 2 – it was sporting what we affectionately refer to here in Minnesota as “whiskey plates,” meaning the driver/owner (or someone in their family) has multiple DWIs. Whiskey plates allow law enforcement officers to stop the vehicle at any time, any reason (or no reason at all), and administer drunk driving tests to the driver.

So, here we have a vehicle marked as a drunk driver at the wheel, proclaiming to all the world, or at least to Minnesota, that they are a drunk liberal that doesn’t care about the environment, just like Ted Kennedy.

Bad Blogger!!!

I admit it. I have been remiss in my writing duties again. I have not posted two words in nearly two weeks. Things have been, as usual, hectic, what with a nearly two week vacation in California, visiting family, and returning to a week long dapartment meeting followed by a rough on-call cycle at work.

Things are stabilizing.

On the home front, my daughter, Anna Marie, now 13 months old, is walking quite well. She still hasn't quite got the word thing down yet, however, she is getting close. She also has her first molar coming in. This is in addition to the eight front teeth she has. and she wants to explore everything.

Also, on the home front, although seeing deer at dusk, and deer track all over my property (not just in the garden bed), they seem to have "gone to ground" during the daytime. Must be hunting season.

And Klingons are planning a dinner night out at the "Cruise," a local restaurant that features Middle Eastern food and belly dancing.

"Crocodile Hunter" Dead at 44

Steve Irwin, better known to the world as the "Crocodile Hunter" was killed by a stingray on the Barrier Reef. His showmanship and charismatic presentation of different species of wildlife made him famous and enabled him to pursue the work he loves.

His loss will be greatly felt.

Mail Box Vandalism

I am back from a long and enjoyable vacation, visiting family in Oregon and exploring Yellowstone National Park for the first time, with my wife and daughter. It was, to say the least, a blast, and in reality a bit too short.

When we turned onto the gravel road that leads to our home, we saw that one of our neighbor's had his "Support the Troop" sign demolished by rampaging punks. These punks cruised through the local township's destroying signs such as the one pictured below, as well as vandalizing the mailboxes of a number of homes, including ours. Now, I can deal with my vandalized mail box. Unfortunately, many of the homes that suffered property damage from the pack a hoodlums (okay, I don't know how many were involved…maybe one, maybe a dozen…who knows!) were over the age of 80. Fortunately, they were able to get assistance in setting things right, except for the demolished "Support the Troops" sign. It lays there still, shattered at the end of my neighbor's driveway.

Home At Last

We've been on vacation for the past couple of weeks and without any Internet access. What a concept. It was a blast, but the homecoming is somewhat disturbing.

Some hoser went through the area taking out a number of mail boxes, including ours, as well as our neighbor's "Support the Troops" sign. I'll go out and take pictures of some of this in the morning and post them. welcome back to Northfield, land of tolerance. My you-know-what.

I'll alos post some material on the vacation later on this week as I get time to process the images, and deal with the downed mailbox.

Thumb's Up!

My morning commute is rarely, if anything, exciting. While cruising up Highway 35, I had a woman in a pickup pull up alongside me and give me a thumbs up. I could also see a smile on her face.

I am assuming she did so for one of my bumper stickers.

The obvious choices are:

"What would Reagan do?" with a peace sign and a B-1 bomber.
"Dubya!" on a green background, designed to combat all of those green "Wellstone!" stickers that still sho up on vehicles throughout Minnesota.
"Understanding terrorists...one bullet at a time." with an image of a .223 cartridge.

Being in Minnesota, and there is a variety of "WWRD?" stickers floating around, I am guessing it is either the green "Dubya!" sticker or the anti-terrorism sticker.

Either way, getting a thumbs up made my morning commute.

Bears Sink Vikings

I don't normally write about sporiting events, but in light of recent escapades involving the Minnesota Vikings and their exploits on Lake Minnetonka, I thought my headline was suitable.

The Strib notes that one Bears fan was displaying the definitive jibe at the Vikings: "We use out boats for fishing!" Perhaps if the Vikings had followed that Bears Fan suggestion, they wouldn't be in deep water.

Perhaps we should start a new mantra. Read my lips: No new stadium!

At least, not at taxpayer expense.

Sex, Drugs and Football

KARE 11 and the Star-Tribune are both reporting on an incident alleged to have taken place on a chartered Lake Minnetonka cruise involving a number of Vikings players and women believed to be hired pros (strippers). The incident is still under investigation.

According to one report:

A woman who apparently was working as a hostess on one of the boats called Mound police about 7:30 p.m. to report possible prostitution, drugs and sex acts, according to police reports.

The charter company, Al and Alma's, has confirmed that the cruise was chartered by a Vikings' player and was cut short when the captains of the cruise boats involved reported what was transpiring.

"Apparently more happened than expected," Doyle said. "(Al and Alma's) received a call from one or both captains reporting that - and immediately ordered the boats to return."

One must bear in mind that the incidents described in the reports are still under investigation, however, I hope to see some follow-up in the media, and if these reports are substantiated, that those involved are prosecuted.

I find it disturbing that pro-sports figures are so often caught with their pants down and involved in behavior that is inappropriate. They should extend themselves to lead lives of example that will have a positive influence on America's youth, setting an example for kids to follow and being true heroes to them, and not behave like overgrown apes who can't get enough at home.

Keegan's, Townhall, and Movies, oh my!

I'll be at Keegan's tonight, hanging with the Antt-Strib crowd in bloggers row.

Also, next week is the monthly Townhall get together. I don't know what the agenda is, however, September is the month that Townhall splits off from meetup.com. Not sure how we'll continue communication as yet, however, townhall.com is supposed to setting up some means of driving it, and one can always stay tuned to the blogosphere. We are still meeting at the Park Tavern at 7PM. Be there, or be square.

I went to see The Great Raid the other night after hearing Hugh Hewitt talk about it on Monday's broadcast. Although I have written my review, have not posted it. I'll have it up tomorrow. Too darned busy as of late. In short: SEE IT!

Okay, So I'm A Capitalist!

I've really done it this time. I've joined the ranks for netizens who have shops at Cafe Press. I've named my shop ConservaGear, and is disinctly right-leaning. Here's the URL: ConservaGear.

It's a new endeavor for me, and I really am having fun coming up with ideas for bumper stickers and t-shirts.

Now if only I could draw half-way decent.
